Privacy Policy

Data collection

The iOS app has no user accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, third-party software development kits, or network service. The publisher does not collect or receive personal data, research-session data, persistent device identifiers, location, diagnostics, or usage information through the iOS app.

iOS on-device data

The iOS app creates session state, recovery backups, audit logs, and CSV exports locally in its app container. When iOS file sharing is enabled, the device owner can view and manage exported files through the Files app.

Animal labels in version 1.0.0 are generated numbers rather than names. Avoid including personal or confidential information in filenames or in external systems where exported files are stored.

This website and earlier browser data

If you used the earlier browser version, your session and saved export history may remain in that browser’s local storage. These records are separate from iPhone app data. You can remove them through your browser’s site-data settings. Downloaded CSV files must be deleted separately.

The earlier browser version does not upload research-session data to the publisher. As with other websites, the hosting provider may process your IP address, browser information, and requests to deliver this site.

Public pages on this website use Umami Analytics to count visits and App Store link clicks, and show which pages are viewed, referring sites, and approximate visitor locations by city, region, and country. Umami uses the visitor’s IP address to estimate location but does not store the address or use tracking cookies. The earlier browser version is excluded from analytics. Research-session data is not sent to Umami.

Public pages also use Leadfeeder Web Visitors to estimate whether visits come from an organization. It processes IP addresses and page activity for this purpose. IP anonymization is enabled. Leadfeeder uses a first-party cookie to recognize repeat visits when the browser allows it. Form tracking is disabled. The earlier browser version is excluded.

Sharing

The iOS app does not transmit research data automatically. You can share or move exports using iOS. Separately, iOS may include app data in iCloud or computer backups according to the device owner’s settings. The publisher does not receive those backups. Selected sharing destinations and backup services are governed by their providers’ privacy practices.

Retention and deletion

In the iOS app, starting a new session removes the current session and recovery backups but preserves earlier CSV exports and audit logs. The device owner can delete those files in Files. Removing the iOS app deletes locally stored app data from the device, subject to the device owner’s backups and any copies they previously exported.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before the changed version is released. The effective date above identifies the current policy version.
